As summer turns up the heat in the District, the Ballot Initiative
Strategy Center is keeping up the pressure in the states. The forces of
division are attempting to recast this year's election with
attention-grabbing stunts while progressive measures stand out with a vision
for a better America.
"At Got Change?" Progressive Solutions vs. Right Wing Gimmicks we will honor
Christine Chavez, a lifelong social justice advocate working in
California to strengthen opposition to anti-choice and anti-gay ballot
measures. As the former Political Director of the United Farm Workers, the
organization her grandfather Cesar Chavez co-founded 40 years ago, Ms.
Chavez brings a unique perspective and tenacity to ballot measure
organizing.

Ballot initiatives are playing a major role in 2008. Ballot Initiative
Strategy Center continues to lead the progressive community's ballot
initiative planning and responses with training, political, and campaign
programs. We don't just play defense. In 2006, BISC assisted 6 state
campaigns in winning passage of measures to increase their states' minimum
wages and give an overdue raise to nearly 2 million American workers. With
your support, Ballot Initiative Strategy Center will continue to ensure that
progressive ballot measure campaigns are more efficient, effective, and
entrepreneurial.
Together, we can achieve change by enacting real solutions and exposing
ultra-right measures as the gimmicks they really are.
We look forward to seeing you at the reception. Please respond by noon
Weds., July 30.
