Adele Stan’s work has appeared in The New Republic,
the Village Voice, The Nation, The Advocate,
Salon.com, the Washington Blade and Mother Jones magazine.
A resident of Washington, D.C., Stan is a longtime New Yorker and
self-described "survivor" of the punk, women's rights, and LGBT liberation
movements, as well as the sexual and digital revolutions. Since the late 70s, she has watched with
alarm--and chronicled as a freelance journalist--the growing political clout
and credibility, conferred in part by the mainstream press, on the extreme religious
right. Her book
Debating Sexual Correctness
delves into controversial topics in the feminist movement and the forces
that shaped contemporary notions of gender prerogatives and identities.
